Geographically, Dugi otok is a captivating island of remarkable diversity and contrast, boasting the distinction of being the largest among the North Dalmatian islands. With a length of approximately 45 km and a width ranging from 1 to 4 km, it aptly earns its name as the “long island.” Its highest peak, Vela Straža, reaches a height of 338 m. Along the island’s coastline facing the open sea, you’ll encounter striking juxtapositions: the Nature Park area predominantly showcases rugged cliffs of unparalleled beauty, while the southeastern side reveals tranquil coves and the sandy haven of Sakarun beach. This island paradise is the perfect setting for indulging in swimming and immersing oneself in the pristine purity of the sea and the natural wonders that abound.

The southeastern region of the island, designated as a Nature Park, ensures its protection, while the northwestern part of Dugi otok has gained recognition as one of the most captivating areas within Zadar County, earning the distinction of being a significant Croatian landscape.

Inhabited by 1,500 islanders spread across 12 settlements, Dugi otok is connected by a well-established road network that offers breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding islands. The island enjoys excellent connectivity to the mainland through ferries and fast boats.
